Sabhira’s Daughter #50

“Whoever the owner is, he’s awfully small.  I can’t wear anything but his underwear!”  FarSeer commented after rifling through the wardrobe. “But then I guess thieves can’t be choosers, right?”

“Oh don’t worry about that,” Udaran replied.  "I’ll make sure to leave plenty of gold behind to pay for it.  I’m sure whoever it is will be worried at first, but when he finds it he’ll be glad we came.  Besides, anyone who abandons a nice cabin like this in Skyrim HAS to expect it to be ransacked when he returns.“

"Is it weird that I feel more embarrassed putting clothes on in front of you girls than just being naked?” FarSeer asked as he was putting on the underwear.

“No need to put on anything as far as I’m concerned!” Muz-Ra said.

“Thanks Red, but I don’t need to be flopping around in front of you all day. So where’s Ubergard?”

“She went out hunting.  Should be back soon.”

“Well good.  At least my sister didn’t have to see me.”

image
“So, FarSeer, I understand you’re a lycanthrope?” asked Shabhira.

“A what?”

“Werewolf.  You’re a shape-changer?”

“Oh, yeah.  They told you about that did they?”

Muz-Ra looked a bit embarrassed, “Well, I didn’t expect we would MEET you again after all!”

“It’s true nonetheless.  But not something I advertise.  There’s too much stigma associated with it.  Stigma that I, at least, don’t deserve.”

image
“Would it offend you if I asked you some questions about it?  The study of Nature is my hobby, you could say.  Such things are TERRIBLY interesting to me.”

FarSeer thought about this for a moment.  "Ok, I’ll answer your questions if you answer mine?  Sound fair?“

"Your questions?  About what?”

“Absolutely anything I want.  Take it or leave it.”

“Well sure, go ahead.  You first.”

image
“What exactly was in that stink bomb?”

“Oh, you wouldn’t be interested in that.  Just an herbal concoction… with a bit of organic thrown in for pungency.”

“You might be surprised at what I’m interested in.  Go on.  What herbs?  What sort of ‘organic’?”

“If you really want to know, Chaurus feces mixed with oil of poison oak. Liquified in an emulsion of activated Khajiit urine and milk.”

“Milk?” FarSeer asked, touching on the only thing that didn’t sound absolutely horrific.

“Well… Hagraven milk to be specific.   All under pressure so breaking the vial will cause the whole thing to go into a rapidly expanding aerosol upon release. Really quite inventive.”

“So I was covered in shit, piss and poison oak?”

“And Hagraven milk…  It’s a fixative that keeps the droplets adhesive to skin, fur or scales, and the poison oak oil keeps the whole thing waterproof.  The other ingredients just create the stink.”

image
“…and Hagraven milk.  Are Slaughterfish are attracted to that?”

“Oh no, I just said that to get you out of the water so we could put the ointment on.”

“But…”

“Coincidence.  At least as far as I know.  Never tested it with Slaughterfish. Although, now that you mention it…”

“Enough!  Ok, you ask me your question now,” FarSeer interrupted, now keen on changing the subject.

image
“Oh!  Where do I start?  No, where do YOU start?  How do you initiate the change?  Do you, like, work yourself into a rage or something mentally?”

“No. But it’s going to be hard to explain if you aren’t a Werewolf yourself.  You put your mind into a sort of weird state.  The closest I can explain is that it’s like making yourself dizzy mentally.  It’s a state you can’t achieve without having the ability though.”

“And I understand that you have the ability to control yourself while in that form?”

“Well, NOW I do.  I didn’t at first.  When you get ‘dizzy’ like that, it takes some effort to not just go to sleep.  Well, not sleep exactly.  Your mind wants to leave consciousness and just let the animal part take over.  It takes practice and concentration not to let that happen.”

image
“And where does your consciousness go if you let it?  Do you dream?  Or do you still see what you’re doing?  Do you remember?”

“Ok, that’s a lot of questions for Chaurus shit!  My turn after this.  The only thing I can even compare it to is an orgasm honestly.  Not the pleasurable part, but just the way you seem to disappear for a short period.  Before I learned to control myself, I basically was no longer there.  But that’s been years now.  I don’t get lost anymore like that.”

Shabhira nodded, then added, “Ok, your turn.”

“Where do you get your ingredients?”

“For the stink bomb?  Well, oddly enough the hardest to get is the Hagraven milk.  But you’d be surprised what adventurers try to sell.  Fortunately we have PLENTY of adventurers around trying to sell every weird thing they come across.  It’s not even expensive, just hard to find.  The poison oak oil I extract myself – but I’ve got some pretty ingenious methods to do it without touching it if I do say so myself!  Let’s see, Chaurus feces is actually very easy to find if you know what you’re looking for.  There’s a mine near Markarth that used to be infested with them.  The Chaurus were cleared out long ago, but they left plenty behind.  Fortunately it doesn’t lose it’s power over time.  That’s why it’s particularly effective.  Stinks Strong, Lasts Long!  But it’s even more effective when combined with Khajiit urine.  There’s a chemical reaction that happens there.  Both increase the potency of the other.  As for where I get that… well, let’s just say I generate it personally.”

image
“You PISSED ON ME!” FarSeer laughed.

“Well, indirectly… yes.”

“Ok, just one more question.”

“Wait, it’s my turn!”

“Oh, ok.  Go ahead.”

“What happens to the fur?”

“Huh?  What do you mean?”

image
“When you turn into the beast form, suddenly you gain all this fur.  Then when you change back, you’re back to a scaled Argonian.  No fur.  Where does it go?  Most hair is inorganic dead fibrous material.  Do you shed?  Is there fur left all over where you turn back?  Or do the dead follicles reanimate?”

FarSeer thought about that for a moment.  "No… I guess it just disappears.  I don’t know really.  I never thought about it.  But no, there doesn’t end up being a bunch of fur laying around anyway.  Huh…  I wonder where it DOES go?“

"An if I snip a bit off, will it disappear too when you turn back?”

“Damned if I know!”

“See, that’s the problem. How can you NOT ask these questions? But nobody ever does! Well, I AM. And I’m going to find out the answers too. If you’ll help me.”

image
“FarSeer, do you think I could maybe watch you when you change?  Would that be OK?”

“Well… sure.  If you want to.  You’ve already seen ALL of me.  Hell, between you and Kitty, you’ve TOUCHED all of me.  I guess it would be silly not to.”

“I would like that.  Very much.   You change nightly then?”

“Yes.  Pretty much every night.”

“Excellent!  Then it’s settled.  Tonight I’ll run with the Wolf!”

“You want to stay with me all night?”

“Sure!  If you say it’s safe that is.  I’ve lots of things I’d like to try!”

“I…  Well.  I’ve never had anyone ask to stay with me before.  I’ve never considered it.  But yeah, it’ll be safe.”

“Ok, last question is yours.  Ask away!”

The Argonian seemed to be confused though.   “Let me save it for later,” he finally said when Shabhira asked again.

image

Sabhira’s Daughter #49

“Shabhira?  Is that…” FarSeer asked.

“Yup, that’s her.  Sabhira’s daughter,” answered Kitty distractedly.

“She’s quite unexpectedly resourceful for a prostitute!”

“She wasn’t.  She sort of functioned as their doctor of sorts though.”

image
“Why is it that every time we meet, I end up getting hurt somehow?” FarSeer asked Kitty, changing the subject.

Kitty smiled, “Just your luck!  You shouldn’t have TRIED to meet me again. It’s your fault!”

“Listen, Kitty.  You probably know by now.  I think I’m in love with you.”

“Oh, I know.  And I’m…  We’re too different.  Not just the species thing, but your life.  Living out here, the Werewolf thing.”

image
“I’ve been thinking about that.  I’d be willing to give it up, you know.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of.  You WOULD give it up, and you shouldn’t.  But your life too, living out here in the woods.  You’d give that up too.  All that to please me.  It’s too much.  I’d feel bad and you would miss it.”

“Yeah.  I guess you’re right.  You know I’d never be happy in a crowd.”

“And I don’t think I could live out here like you.  We just don’t fit together.”

image
“So it’s not just the Werewolf thing then?”

“Well, to be honest that’s pretty fucking big!  But no.  It’s not just that.  Like I said, we just don’t fit together.”

“Friends then?”

“I’m sorry FarSeer, but no.  We would never be just friends.  I couldn’t be.”

“Me too.  But it’s hard.”

Kitty hugged him fiercely, “It IS hard.  Too hard.  You shouldn’t have come looking for me.”

image
FarSeer look down into her eyes for a long time.  For the last time with that intensity.  Then he sighed, as if letting something go, and changed the subject.

“So what’s the deal with Shabhira?”

“They call her a Herb Witch.  She seems very smart.”

“And she’s going back with you to the Tails?”

Kitty nodded.  "For a while I guess, but she’s not going to stay.  I think she wants to travel.  Now that she’s rich, I think she’s going to do that.“

image
"So at least your quest hasn’t been in vain.”

“No, not in vain.  I don’t regret anything you know,” Kitty said, looking up at him again.  But FarSeer was looking ahead and appeared not to notice her.

Finally, he said, “Neither do I, Kitty.”

They kissed then, with all the awkwardness and incompatibility inherent in such a thing between an Argonian and a Khajiit.  It was as clumsy and unnatural as would be expected, and it was a kiss Kitty would never forget.

image
Somehow, with that kiss, Kitty’s turmoil was resolved.  She knew she would return to her old life and banish thoughts of  FarSeer, knowing that it was for the best for both of them.  Yet she would always know that he was out there somewhere, and that would be enough. Enough to know that somewhere out there was a person who felt so strongly towards her that he would have given up everything. It wasn’t the fairy tale ending to their short romance, but Kitty knew she could live with that. image
“Shabhira!” called Udaran when she saw them approaching.  "Thank god, we were getting worried about you two.  Wait.  Is that FarSeer with Kitty?  Um… and is he NAKED?“

"Oh, yes.  He found us while we were in the woods searching for a place.  I mistook him for some danger though and lobbed a rather potent stink bomb at him.  We had to get him cleaned up.  It pretty much ruined his clothes so…”

“I see!  A LOT!  Well, Ubergard found an unoccupied cabin we can stay in for the night, so no problem there.  There’s probably something in it he can wear.”

image
“Hello Udaran,” FarSeer said in greeting.

“Well hello FarSeer.  What brings you way up here?”

“Your little scout.  I decided I needed to talk to her again so I’ve been waiting for you to return.”

Udaran looked to Kitty who shrugged.

“Don’t look at me!  I told him it was stupid.”

image
Later, as they came up to the cabin Ubergard had discovered…

“Oh my!  FarSeer!  Ever so GOOD to see you again!” Muz-Ra said with maybe a bit too much emphasis as Shabhira, Kitty and FarSeer came up the path.

“You too Red, but… my eyes are up here.”

“Of course they are.  But your penis is down there!”

image

Sabhira’s Daughter #48

“I hope the others are having better luck than us, Shabhira.”

“I haven’t seen anything likely either.  We might as well head back early.”

“Agreed.”

image
“Wait!” Shabira whispered urgently to Kitty. “Did you hear that?  Better put your cloak on Kitty.  Sounds like something big coming this way!”

“Not until I absolutely have to.  Blindness sucks, trust me!  What about you?”

“I’m going to try a stink bomb first.  But I’ve got more lethal methods if I need them.  Don’t worry about me…  Shhhhh!”

image
Shabhira and Kitty both crouched behind a boulder while something continued to approach.  As it got close, Shabhira palmed a vial and nodded to Kitty beside her, then leaped out and hurled the vial in the direction of the noise while Kitty stood up to look, ready for anything. The vial burst against a tree and a fine green mist exploded outward from it as if it had been under extreme pressure. image
“Oh my god!” cried a familiar voice.  "ACK! <SNORT!> What the hell IS this?!“

Shabhira shouted back, "Stop!  Stand still or you’ll regret it!  Who are you?”

A shape stepped out from behind a tree, large and scaled.  "I ALREADY regret it!  My name is FarSeer and I’m unarmed.  Who are you?“

"FarSeer!” cried Kitty.

image
“Kitty!  Call off your friend!  And PLEASE let me get a bath, like NOW!”

The wind shifted a bit and suddenly Kitty could smell a terribly pungent and obnoxious odor.“

"FarSeer?  I’m sorry, we thought you were a bear or something!  Come on over.”

But the big Argonian was already running past them.  "Oh I can’t stand this.  Sorry Kitty, I’ve GOT to get this smell off me NOW!“

"WAIT!,” Sabhira shouted to the stricken Argonian, but he was already gone.

FarSeer stripped off his clothes as he ran and jumped naked into the lake.

image
By then, Kitty had recovered and ran after him with Shabhira following. Once at the water’s edge, Shabhira shouted to FarSeer, who was trying his best to rub the smell off himself.

“FarSeer, you have to get out!  Water will only spread it around you, but it WILL attract Slaughterfish!”

As if on cue, the Argonian yelped at a nip on his butt and clambered out as fast as he could.

image
“What on earth IS this stuff?” he asked.

“Wow!  You really STINK FarSeer!”

“No kidding!” he replied, but smiling at the little Khajiit.

“FarSeer, lay down and we’ll put this ointment on.  It will neutralize the smell, but you have to stay still.”

image
“Yes, FarSeer.  It needs to be on ALL of you.  Don’t be shy, I’ve seen Argonian males before.  Yes, even there.”

FarSeer sighed and turned over.

“Essence of Skunk?” Kitty guessed.

“Afraid not.  It’s worse than that, but you don’t want to know.  Really, you don’t,” Shabhira said, applying more ointment.  Let’s just finish getting this on him before it becomes permanent.“

"PERMANENT?!  Here, have at me!” exclaimed FarSeer, exposing all of himself.  “Lady, that stuff is pure EVIL and you should be in jail for using it!“

“Watch yourself, lizard, I have your children in my hand!” giggled Shabhira.

image
“There. That should do it,” Shabhira sat back admiring their work.

“Well great, but NOW what am I going to wear?  My clothes are ruined.”

“THAT is true.  No way you’re going to fit in anything Kitty or I brought either.  Sorry but I think you’re going to stay naked till we can find you something.”

“What on earth are you doing up here anyway?” Kitty asked.  "Ubergard said your cabin was way on the other side of the lake!“

image
"It is.  I… I was looking for you to be honest.”

“Me?  But you had no idea when I’d be coming back this way.  Or even IF I would.”

“Yeah, I know.  I kinda…  have been waiting.  A long time.”

Kitty smiled sadly up at the scaley face. “I’m sorry FarSeer.  But you know it could never work.”

“I know, but I had to see you again.  I couldn’t let you go without talking to you first.”

Shabhira looked from one to the other.  "We’d best be getting back.  We’re going to be late.  I’ll lead the way and you can talk privately while we go back.“

"Thanks Shabhira,” Kitty said, not looking away from FarSeer.

Sabhira’s Daughter #47

The conversation turned instead to the life and work of the models at the Tails.

“…and there’s really no sex behind the camera?” Shabhira was asking Udaran.

“Not at all.  I know it seems odd, but when you’ve done it as long as I have, sex seems almost unrelated to the posing.  As a professional model, your goal is to please the camera.  Sometimes that involves some pretty intense contortions of the body, but fortunately Khajiit and Argonians are good at that.”

“I see.  But, that’s regrettable.”

image

“Regrettable?  How so?”

“It almost seems like a lie.  The readers see this sensual, sexy female practically begging for a tumble in the bed.  But what they are really seeing is just the end result of a group of people working to present that fantasy.  It’s not real.”

“Well of COURSE it’s not real.  Only the most fanboyish of fanboys think it’s real.  But they still BUY it,” Udaran responded, perhaps a bit too emphatically.

image

“Lighten up Udaran, I’m not trying to put down what you do!  But no, I just don’t see it being my future."

"That’s too bad,” Muz-Ra interjected, “you’ve got a hell of a body you know!”

“Nice of you to notice, Red.  But this one is reserved.”

“For who?  Have you got a boyfriend?”

“Or GIRLfriend?” Udaran added.

“Oh, no.  Nothing like that currently.  But I don’t think I’m cut out for sharing myself that way, even if it is just a fantasy.”

image

“What is it Udie?  You look hurt.  What did I say?”

“I guess I had my own fantasy, that you’d come  and live with us.  But that’s selfishness.  I miss your mother, and you remind me SO much of her.  Even without the intimacy I was still hoping you might stay.”

“Well, perhaps for a while as a guest.  I am hoping to stay till I decide what I want to do next, but I’m just not Tails material.  I can still come visit though, or you can visit me wherever I ‘land’”.

“That will do fine.  I’m sorry, just a little disappointed that my own fantasy isn’t going to come true.  But I’ll get over it.”

image

“You know what I WOULD like though is a bit of training.”

“Training?  What do you mean?”

“Well, someday when I DO settle down, I’d like to know a pose or two for my mate.  I mean, I can do the demure, shy girl just fine. It’s my natural state in the bedroom.  But the sultry temptress is beyond me.  I start giggling.”

image

“Oh, we can do that!   When we stop for the night, I’ll show you a thing or two.  But really it’s not so much the posing as the acting.  You have to believe you really ARE that person.  It’s really IS acting.  If you are playing pretend, it’s not going to work.  You have to BE the person you’re presenting whoever it is.  A Sultry Temptress isn’t going to giggle.  But still, there are some technical things to posing too.”

“Wow, I guess you really DO have a skill and not just a hot body.”

image

“Well thank you Shabhira.  I do hope after all this time working at the Tails I’ve learned SOMETHING beyond how to keep a diet!”

“Oh shit, I’m sorry Udaran! That wasn’t what I meant at all!  I don’t mean to be offensive.  Really I don’t!  I guess I’m a little clueless when it comes to people.”

image

“It’s getting dark girls.  It’s been a long day and we’re all getting tired and irritable, but we’ve done well today.  We’re just coming out of the Reach now. It’s time we considered where we’re going to spend the night.  FarSeer’s cabin is far south of here across the lake so that’s out.  Let’s start looking for likely campsites.  We’ll want to be not too far off the road that we can’t find it easily, but far enough that we’re not spotted by any wandering bandits.”

“Should we split up and go looking for a place?” Kitty asked.

image

“That’s not a bad idea – but in pairs.  I’ll go by myself.  Let’s meet back here in an hour.  ONE hour.  I’ll go up this way.”

“I’ll go with Kitty,” Shabhira said.

“But neither of you have weapons,” the Argonian noted.  "Kitty’s got her cloak, but you have nothing to defend yourself with.“

"You underestimate me Ubergard. I would surprise you with what some of my little vials can do.  There are more methods of defense than a strong offense too.  We’ll be fine.  Besides, I daresay I’ve spent more time out in the wild than you have!”

image

“Very well.  You two look down that way.  Red and Udaran, you head up towards that hill and see if you spot anything.  We’re just looking for a protected area, perhaps with a rock wall we can shelter beside.  Ideally an unoccupied cave but those are rare and the occupants you find will not be friendly so don’t risk anything.  Remember – ONE hour.  Once you’ve been gone a half hour, start heading back.  And stay together.”

image

Sabhira’s Daughter #46

And with that, the four were now five, and began the long walk back to Whiterun and home.

“So, a herb-witch huh?  Does that mean you make potions and stuff like that?” asked Muz-Ra.

“Well, yes.  I certainly can do that, but the craft is much more than just making potions.  It’s really all about learning the properties of different things found in Nature.  Old Umbra taught me from when I was little.  She died a few years ago, but by then – to be honest – I’d passed her in the art.  It’s really fascinating though.  Just for instance, those juniper berries there.  There’s a mixture you can make with them that helps eyesight which in turn helps archers tremendously!”

“Oh?  You know, I…”

“Yes, the bow on your back gave me a clue,” laughed Shabhira.

image
“So you know all about plants then?” Udaran asked.

“Not all.  Not possible.  And it’s not just plants by any means!  But that’s the idea.  It’s really just the study of Nature itself."

"Do you do magic then?”

“Some people would think of it as a type of magic, but really no.  Or at least I don’t MAKE magic.  It’s already there in Nature.  I just… I guess you could say I condense it and make it useful.”

image
“What do you think of Mages then?  You can’t say THEY don’t make magic!” Muz-Ra went on.

“Udaran mentioned there was a Mage back in Helgen.  I guess you’d know more than me about them!”

“I know enough to stay as far away as possible.”

“And THAT… Red? Can I call you Red?”

“Sure Shabhira.  Nobody calls me Muz-Ra.”

“Well, THAT, Red, is knowledge too.  That kind of magic is dangerous.  I think it’s kind of UN-Natural.  It really shouldn’t exist.  If I could, I’d abolish it altogether.  Too much bad can come from that kind of power.  Potions take time and effort to learn.  But Mages just pull lightning out of thin air.  That’s just not right.”

image
“What about Dragons?” Kitty asked.  "And Vampires?“

"What do I think about them you mean?  Again, they’re both really sort of like Mages aren’t they?  I don’t think they COULD exist without Un-Natural magic.  It’s like the Draugr.  Walking dead and skeletons.  They really don’t make sense.  I mean, a Skeleton is just so much solidified calcium.  How can they move?  They have no muscles to drive them, no nerves to activate the muscles.  You might as well put together so many sticks and ask THEM to walk.  Yet they exist.  It’s just not a natural state.  All I learn about Nature tells me they can’t exist, but they do!   They’re fascinating, but they’re also WRONG.  Oh, I’m sorry.  You got me started.  I’m afraid it’s my passion.”

image
“Ever considered studying THEM?” Kitty asked.

“What, Skeltons?”

“Yeah… well, the animated kind I mean.”

“Hehe.  Sorry Kitty, you must think I’m braver than I am.  The LAST thing I want to do is to be close to one of them! I’m no hero. My herbs don’t leap out of their containers and attack me!”

Kitty nodded.  "Good point!“

image
"Let’s stop here for a minute,” Udaran suggested, at which all agreed.

“You know,” Muz-Ra said to Shabhira, “there are those who think WE are un-natural.  Argonians and Khajiits I mean.”

“Oh, I suppose we are.  But so are Elves, Humans and Orcs for that matter.  I don’t see how we’re any more un-natural than they are.”

“Elves.  Talk about UN-Natural!” Muz-Ra spat.

“You don’t like Elves?” asked Shabhira.

“Oh, they’re ok I guess – but they LOVE their Magic don’t they?  I mean, MOST magic-users are elves.”

“The one that attacked you at Helgen?”

Muz-Ra nodded.

image
“Well, good and evil come in all shapes I guess."

"I’ve never seen a Good skeleton!”

“Mmm.  But they don’t count.  No intelligence.  Might as well call a Bear evil.”

“How about Vampires?  Ever heard of a Good vampire?  And they’re intelligent.”

“Ok, we’ve gone WAAAAY out of my area of expertise.  But no, can’t say I’ve ever heard of a good vampire.”

Mus-Ra smiled, satisfied the she’d made a good point.

“Let’s get moving again,” Ubergard commanded, “It’s a long walk and we’ve nowhere to stay tonight but out in the wilds.  I’d like to get back to familiar territory before dark.”

image
“We know a good Werewolf.” Muz-Ra pointed out as they continued on.

“A good Werewolf?  Surely there’s no such thing.”

“Sure is.  We met him on the way here.  He’s Ubergard’s brother in fact.  Lives in a shack south of Lake Ilinalta, and he’s as nice a guy as you’d ever dream of meeting.”

“REALLY?  Now THAT would be fascinating!”

Kitty could fairly see the gears turning in Shabhira’s brain.

Shabhira went on, more to herself than to her companions, “You could watch him transform.  Weigh him!  I wonder if the mass changes, or…  would Wolfs-bane really have any effect?  Oh but this is all idle speculation.  He may be as sweet as you please when he’s an Argonian, but you’d not want to be around him after the change I bet!”

image
“He says he’s fully under control at all times, and Ubergard came to believe him too.  And Kitty, he came up to her while he was changed.  Didn’t leave a scratch.”

“Is that right Kitty?” Shabhira asked, genuinely interested.

Kitty had turned sulky though, and just grunted, “I guess so.”

Muz-Ra, never one for subtleties, continued rambling on before Kitty cried, “ENOUGH!  Can we PLEASE NOT TALK ABOUT FARSEER ANYMORE??”

Muz-Ra and Shabhira took the hint only after it was bludgeoned into their ears by this and discussion on the topic stopped.

image
Shabhira rolled a meaningful eye towards Kitty, indicating her and an unseen Other, at Muz-Ra silently.

The Argonian nodded, confirming Shabhira’s unspoken question.

“OOOOooohhhh,” she mouthed silently back.

Sabhira’s Daughter #45

Ubergard was snoring loudly when Ashasha came in to wake the travelers in the morning.

“Rise and shine girls! It’s a new day and full of possibilities. Breakfast is waiting for you and Shabhira will be here in an hour.”

image

“Early? It’s halfway to noon! Oh, you’d have a hard time of it here Kitty. Most of the girls have already eaten and are about their chores.” she smiled.

“Chores? Last night’s work wasn’t enough?”

“That? That’s just Work. But this place doesn’t run itself and we don’t make enough to hire maids.”

image

“You’re surprisingly upbeat this morning Ashasha!” Udaran noticed from behind Kitty.

“Well, I have a right to be.  We made good money last night and it turns out S’uzi’s tail is just sprained.  She’ll be back on her back in a week.”

“Oh, that’s good to hear,” Kitty said, having worked out the odd phrasing. “…I guess.”

image

“Yes!  Shabhira took a look at her last night before she left.”

“And you don’t mind Shabhira coming with us anymore?” Udaran asked.

image

“Of course I do!  But we worked out a deal.  No matter what happens, she’ll drop by once a month and help J’ara get up to speed to take her place.”

“Well that sounds wonderful.  Has she given any indication of her own plans… after?”

“I don’t think she has a clue herself yet.”

image

After breakfast, the group had gathered outside the Cathouse when Shabhira came up the hill.

“Whoa!  Shabhira, you look different today?  Your traveling clothes?” asked Udaran.

“What? Oh, the gown. I’m sorry, I should have said something.  Last night I was meeting with some people in Markarth when Ashasha sent for me.  I don’t normally dress like that.”

“I see.  So, are you ready to go?”

“Absolutely! Eager in fact!”

image

Meanwhile, Kitty and her new friend Cheetah were saying their goodbyes.

“Could you do me a favor Kitty?”

“Anything Cheetah!  What can I do?”

“Well, when you get back, can you ask H to stop by here next time he’s recruiting.  I think I’m interested.”

image

“Oh?  You don’t like it here?”

“It’s not bad.  Really it’s not.  Ashasha is a good boss to have.  And it may be wrong, but I DO love the work SO much!  But it seems so… out of the way here.  It’s like Markarth is at the edge of everything.  Nothing ever happens here, and everything happens in Whiterun.  Plus I got K’riss to let me look at a copy of the Tails he has.  Very erotic!”

“You like it?”

“Once I managed to peel the pages apart, yeah!  I think I’d like to do that!”

K’riss looked away, somewhat embarrassed.

Sabhira’s Daughter #44

The giantess laid Udaran on the bed and assured Kitty that she was fine.

“She just passed out.  Shock I think. That and not getting enough AIR,” she said, giving Muz-Ra a brief glare.

“What happened?” Shabhira asked.

“Sorry Shabhira, not your fault.  I’ll explain in a minute,” Muz-Ra explained, “But can you get some water or something to revive her?”

“Water?  Oh I can do better than that surely!  Stand aside a minute,” and the daughter of Sabhira pulled a small vial from her pocket, uncorked it and held it briefly under Udaran’s nose.

image
The effect was immediate.  Udaran sat up and stared again at Shabhira.

“Are you ok?  You passed out,” Muz-Ra asked her but Udaran couldn’t reply.

“Give her a minute,” Shabhira said. “She’ll be fine.  Now what’s this all about?”

“I think maybe you’d better sit down.”

image
“You know my mother?!”

“Yes.  Well, not Kitty, but Ubergard, Udaran and I did.  Udaran knew her best.”

‘knew’. I see. She’s dead then,“ Shabhira took a moment to process this as Muz-Ra nodded.  "And… I gather I look like her?”

image
“Uncannily so.  I’m afraid it was too much for Udie.  They were very close.”

“Oh!  I’m sorry Udaran.  But I assure you, I’m no ghost,” Sabhira said.

“No,” Udaran managed, her composure returning. “I know.  It’s just… I didn’t expect you to look so… familiar.”

image
“So you came to tell me my mother was dead?”

“That, and more,” Muz-Ra explained.

“More?”

“No, let me tell her Red. I’m ok now.  If you don’t mind, could you leave me and Sab… I mean, SHABhira alone for a few minutes?”

image
Muz-Ra nodded and got up with the other two.

“Let’s go see if we can get a midnight snack.  Sound good?”

Kitty and Ubergard nodded and followed Muz-Ra out.

image
In fact, it was well past midnight when Shabhira and Udaran came looking for the others.

“You’ve brought her up to date on everything?” Kitty asked.

“Yes, I think so,” Udaran replied.  It was then that Kitty noticed that both had obviously been crying.

“I want to thank you all for undertaking this journey to find me.  I have a lot to think about, I’m sure you understand.  But I WILL be returning with you tomorrow.  For now, Ashasha and I need to talk, and then I’ll return to my hut.   I would appreciate it if you would wait for me here till I return in the morning.”

image
“Of course Shabhira, we will wait longer than that if you want to,” Muz-Ra suggested.

“It won’t be necessary.  I have some things I need to prepare first, but I should be ready before noon.”

image
“Then, until tomorrow?” Udaran held out her hand.

Shabhira batted it aside and gave her a fierce hug. “I know how much you must have gone through for me Udie – and for my mother’s memory. A handshake wouldn’t be gratitude enough.”

image
Kitty wondered if Shabhira knew just HOW close Udaran and her mother had been, but decided that – at least for now – it really didn’t matter.

Then the two looked at each other for a moment, Udaran obviously fighting back tears as she looked into the eyes of her only love’s daughter, before Shabhira took Ashasaha by the hand and left.

Muz-Ra led the four up the stairs to their room and sleep.

Sabhira’s Daughter #43

“Could it be true?  Are we finally going to meet Sabhira’s daughter?” Udaran asked.

“That name couldn’t be coincidental.  Shabira?  And Ashasha sounded very confident,” Kitty agreed.

Even Ubergard seemed excited, “She’d not have gone through that if it wasn’t her.  I think so!"

"Kitty, would you mind trying to find Muz-Ra?  She should be here too when Shabhira comes.”

“Sure thing.  I’ll be back right away!”

image
“What do you think of this one?” Muz-Ra said, trying on yet another outlandish outfit.

“Did you hear what I said, Red?  We FOUND her!  She’ll be here within the hour!” Kitty exclaimed.

“Oh yes, yes.  I heard you.  But I haven’t found anything yet and there’s so many!”

“Don’t you think it’s a bit… much?”

“Yeah, I guess so.  But wait, maybe this?”

image
Kitty stared in disbelief.  "Well, the bottom is definitely YOU.  But I don’t know HOW you squeezed into that top!“

Muz-Ra looked down at herself.  "I guess not.  Hmph.  Well, I guess I’ll go back to the gold bikini.”

“And what of the…”

“Oh damn them.  They saved my life once.  If all they ask in return is a bit of voyeurism, I think that’s a small price to pay.”

Kitty nodded agreement.

image
“But I’m taking one back I want to show Udie.  She’ll get a kick out of it.” image
Ubergard was rolling on the floor and Udaran doubled over in fits of laughter after Muz-Ra entered.

“What?  Don’t you like it?”

Ubergard spluttered, “Lady Death!  Please don’t kill me!”

image
Udaran added, "Red, PLEASE take it off!  I… I… can’t BREATH!”

Meanwhile Kitty was checking out the skull pasties.  "How DO these stay on Red?“

"Oh, they’re kind of like suction cups.  Feels weird at first though.”

image
Udaran choked out, “PLEASE!” through closed fingers between bouts of laughter.

“You two just have no taste in high fashion,” Muz-Ra spat in mock disgust, but she pulled out her gold bikini and began to change anyway.

image
It just so happened that Red was in a rather awkward position in mid-changing when Shabhira stepped in to get a glorious view of the Argonian’s rump. image
“Excuse me, Lady Ashasha told me I needed to speak with you.  A matter of some importance I gathered.  Is this a bad time?”

Though Kitty had never actually met Sabhira, she had certainly seen pictures of her in back issues of the Tails.  Now Kitty turned around to see the spitting image of Sabhira looking very confused.

image
Behind her, Kitty heard Udaran gasp and then crumble to the floor in a heap.

“Udie!” Kitty cried but Ubergard was already lifting her from the floor.

“Oh my!  What happened?” Shabhira asked, concerned.

Sabhira’s Daughter #42

Upon entering the room, Kitty was happy to find Udaran still awake and talking to Ubergard. image
“Kitty? Ashasha? What is it?”

“Ashasha has something she wants to tell us.  Isn’t that right?”

“Yes, I do.  Let me sit down please.  This isn’t easy.”

Udaran motioned to the chair and sat up anxiously.

image
“She’s here.  Well, she’s not here at the moment, but I know who you’re looking for.”

Kitty corrected, “You KNEW who we were looking for before, didn’t you?”

“Yes.  I did.  Her name is Shabira.  She is our Herb witch.”

image
“WHAT?  But, why didn’t you tell us before?  I don’t understand!” Udaran asked.

“Shes… very special to us here.  We NEED her.  I need her.  I raised her you know.  Well, me and an old lady who died a couple of years ago.  But she’s like a daughter to me.  Understand, she’s the daughter I never had.”

“I see, but why?  We’re not here to take her away from you!”

image
“Oh, but you are.  She doesn’t even live in the house now!  She moved out when her teacher died and moved into her hut a little way down the road.  She cares for us though.  She’s very skilled, did I mention?  Without her I’ll be ruined.  And now you come offering her a fortune.  How long do you think she’ll stick around here when she has the means to leave?  She always talks about wanting to travel Skyrim.  She’s always wandering in the wilds.  She’ll leave us, and we’ll be lost.”

Lady Ashasha appeared to age in front of their eyes.  Not a physical change, but the strong, willful leader of the Cathouse no longer looked strong.  She looks old, Kitty thought.

image
“Ashasha, you know that’s not for you to decide,” Udaran stated flatly, but with no malice in her voice.  "Shabhira will make that decision.  But it’s her decision to make, her life to live!  If she leaves you, she would have done so anyway eventually.“

"You don’t understand.  These girls are MY life.  We need her!” Ashasha fairly wailed.

“Pardon me Ashasha, but I don’t think you do,” Kitty interjected.

image
The old Khajiit looked up, her eyes wet.

“Did you see Ja’ra?”, Kitty continued, “She worked wonders with S’uzi down there.  I bet she could replace Shabhira without much fuss.”

Ashasha considered a moment.  "But,“ she began, then paused.  "She did well, didn’t she?”

image
At this, Udaran had to ask, “What?  Who’s Ja’ra?  Who’s S’uzi?”

“Nothing much, accident downstairs,” Kitty explained, “an accident that was handled quite well I think.”

Ashasha nodded.  "But I’ll still lose her.“

"Maybe.  But how much sooner if she found out you’d kept this from her?” Udaran asked.

image
“You won’t tell her?”

“There’s no need.  We came here to find her, and we have.  If it took a few hours longer than we’d hoped, what difference does that make?”

Ashasha nodded and stood up.  "Thank you.  All of you,“ she looked at Kitty.  "You’re good people.”

Kitty hadn’t the heart to tell her how wrong she was.

image
“I’m going to send for K’rris to bring her back right now.  With luck she should be here within the hour.  I’ll send her right up when she gets here,” Ashasha stated, and then with a shrug of her shoulders, her stately bearing returned and she strode out of the room without looking back. image

Sabhira’s Daughter #41

Kitty was taking another break from her dancing and chatting with Cheetah, who had returned from her business when they were interrupted by a scream that came from upstairs.  Both immediately raced to the source. image
A large naked man Kitty had noticed earlier was crouched just outside the doorway and looked up at her and Cheetah.

“I’m sorry!” he kept saying as they looked in at the Khajiit within.

image
Kitty was relieved to see that she seemed to be OK, though something seemed wrong with her tail.

“S’uzi!  What’s wrong?  What happened?” asked Cheetah.

“OW!  Goddammit, that HURTS!” the Khajiit apparently known as S’uzi responded, tenderly touching the base of her tail.

Oh no.  Anal?“ Cheetah asked kneeling beside S’uzi.

OOOOWWW! Crap. Yeah. My fault. Ashasha’s gonna kill me.”

image
Ashasha and Bahriba appeared in the doorway as if on cue.

“Damn straight I am!  Bahriba, take this guy away would you?”

“Sure,” the bard replied.  "Come on lover boy.  What’s your name?“

Kitty didn’t catch the rest as they moved away from the room.

image
"OOOOOoooO!” the stricken Khajiit howled as Ashasha assessed the damage quickly.

“Damn it S’uzi, you KNOW better than to allow that!  I know you do.  Cheetah, go fetch the witch.”

“But you sent her and K’rris to Markarth this morning.”

“GODdammit!  Then go find Ja’ra.  She hangs out with Shabhira all the time.  She’s got to have learned SOMETHING.”

image
“Will do,” Cheetah replied and was gone.

Suddenly Ashasha realized what she’d said and looked at Kitty wide eyed.  Kitty stared straight back at her with dawning comprehension.  Shabhira.

image
“Dammit it hurts Ashasha!”

“I bet it does,” Ashasha said distractedly, “Just lay still and try not to move.  I suppose he was just ‘too nice’ to deny?”

“Yeah…  did you see the six-pack on that hunk?  OW!” S’uzi cried.

“You could have at least done it missionary, but no.  He HAD to take you from behind I suppose.”

“I won’t do it again Ashasha.  He was so gentle, I didn’t think he would…”

image
“No, you won’t do ANYTHING again for a month!  I keep telling you girls, they have no control!  YOU have to have control!  But don’t worry about that now.  Ah, here’s Ja’ra.”

“I’ve got some salve Shabhira made before she left,” said a Khajiit that Kitty didn’t recognize.  "And a potion to remove the pain.  It’s quite effective.  She says it’s normally used with birthing.“

"GIMME!” S’uzi cried and she took the potion from Ja’ra.

“It… has some side effects,” the new Khajiit added.

image
“Like whud?  I meen whuffffff,” S’uzi said before she passed out cold.

Ja’ra took over the care of the now-sleeping Khajiit, daubing some sort of goop around the base of the tail then wrapped the base of the tail in bandages she’d brought along with her.

image
Ashasha looked back to Kitty.  "I think we need to talk.“

Kitty agreed.  "Yes.  Shall we perhaps go talk in Udaran’s room then?”

Ashasha reluctantly agreed.
